myspace, facebook

As your typical American teenager, I am an avid user of myspace.com and facebook.com, connecting with both current and past friends.  I think that these sites are forcing big changes in the way in which we communicate.

Now you don't have to get to college to meet friends there, you can find them weeks before you set foot in the dormroom.  I plan on doing this next september, seeing that I'm currently a high school senior.  You can find out much about a person from their myspace or facebook, but the thing is that you get to choose how much to put out there.  You can keep in easy contact with people that either moved away, or who you just drifted away from.

I want to know your thoughts on sites like this.  Enjoy.

My room-mate's Son-in-law showed me that (none / 0)

It looks like a terrific site. Their email is at least as good as gmail and there appears to be a free website as well.

Is it supported by advertising? He was only visiting for a couple of days and I didn't get a chance to find out more than the basics.

yes, myspace is supported by ads, and I believe that the college version of facebook is, but I'm on the high school site.

These sites are critical.  I hope you'll post more about them, how they work, and how they impact people's social behavior.

As an avid Myspace user... (none / 0)

and high school senior, I suggest we start an "MyDD" group. I'm sure there's more of us out there.

Feel free to add me:
